Guide

Check whether your face was used by AI with two photos

To check AI misuse of your face, upload your original photo and the suspicious photo to the Rightis misuse check. It returns a face similarity score for free with no signup, and when the score is high it leads straight to platform reports, a formal notice draft and law-firm proposals.

How can I tell if my photo was used by AI?

AI-made images are hard to tell from real ones by eye. The reliable way is to compare the suspicious image with an original photo of you and ask whether it is the same face. The Rightis misuse check compares the two faces and gives you a similarity score.

It compares faces rather than hunting for traces of AI generation, so editing, compositing and low resolution do not stop it. A screenshot someone sent you, a social post, an ad image: upload it as is. The more frontal the face, the better the result.

Is the check free? Do I need an account?

It is free and needs no account. Uploaded photos are discarded as soon as the check finishes, are never used for AI training, and no result data such as the score is kept. Only when you continue to the response page is a record created, and that record lasts 48 hours.

If you already registered your face with Rightis, sign in and you can also compare a suspicious photo against your registered face, with a direct path to a misuse report when the score is high.

How do I read the similarity score?

There are five outcomes. At 95% and above, unauthorized use is strongly suspected. At 85% and above, misuse is likely. In both cases we recommend acting right away. Below that the result is partial match, no match, or no face detected.

The score is a reference value, not a legal finding. Angle, expression and image quality change the number, so if it comes back low and you still have doubts, try another original photo with a clear frontal view.

Does this work as a deepfake check?

Yes. For a deepfake video, capture a frame where the face is large and sharp and upload it as the suspicious photo. Checking several frames separately makes the result more reliable.

Voice deepfakes cannot be compared yet. What you can check today is the face. For voice, the guide on voice cloning explains how registration keeps a consent record.

What should I do after the check?

A high score leads to the response page. It puts both photos, the score, the verdict, the time of the check and a record code on one sheet you can print or save as a PDF.

From there you have three paths: ask the platform directly through its report window, fill in the blanks of a formal notice draft, or submit the evidence and receive proposals from partner law firms at no filing fee. You can pick one or run them together.

Steps

How the check works

  1. Prepare an original photo

One photo with a clear, near-frontal view of your face. A phone selfie is fine.

  2. Prepare the suspicious photo

A social post, an ad, or a screenshot someone sent you. For video, capture a sharp frame.

  3. Upload both and read the result

The score and verdict appear right away. Photos are discarded once the check is done.

  4. Continue to the next step

If the score is high, save the evidence sheet and choose a platform report, a formal notice or a law-firm proposal.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

I only have one photo. Can I still check?

You need two: your original and the suspicious one. The original just needs to show your face from the front, so you can take it with your phone now.

Can I upload a video?

Video files are not accepted. Capture a frame where the face is large and sharp and upload it as a photo.

The score was low but I am sure it is my face.

Angle, expression and quality affect the score. Try another original with a clear frontal view, and check multiple suspicious images one at a time.

Can I use the result as evidence?

The evidence sheet from the response page carries a record code and a fingerprint so Rightis can confirm the stored record. It contains no legal finding, and the score is a reference value.
