Voice cloning and AI voice deepfakes: register your voice rights first

The first step against voice cloning is registering your voice rights. On Rightis you read three sentences into a 30-second recording; the recording and the script are kept as your consent record, and AI services that integrate Rightis check permission before using your voice.

How does AI voice cloning happen?

Current speech synthesis needs only a few seconds of audio to produce a convincing copy. Call recordings, video audio and broadcast appearances are the raw material. That is why voice deepfakes are rising: calls impersonating family, ad voiceovers you never recorded, videos mimicking a celebrity.

Unlike a face, a voice cannot be compared with a single photo, and most people learn of the misuse after the damage. Keeping a record in advance matters.

Is there a way to stop voice cloning?

There is no technical way to fully prevent cloning today, and audio already online cannot be recalled. Three things are possible: register your voice rights so notice and a consent record exist in advance, have AI services that integrate Rightis check permission before using your voice, and join the do-not-train list so developers that honour it exclude your voice from training.

For services that have not integrated, registration is not a technical block. But the registration time and consent record are evidence, in a dispute, that the voice is yours and that you never gave permission.

How do I register my voice rights?

After signup, read three set sentences in your rights wallet. It takes 30 seconds. One of the sentences is a question, and the script itself is the consent wording: you state in your own voice that you register it and manage its use. You can also upload a recording you already have.

The file is stored encrypted in private storage. Only you, and the operations team briefly when a contract review requires it, can listen, and every playback is logged.

What is the recording used for?

Two things. First, permission checks: integrated AI services never receive the file, only a yes or no on whether use is permitted. Second, evidence: in a dispute the recording and the script are preserved as your consent record.

When a permission request arrives you grant it yourself. Granted use is recorded under a contract and settled.

Can I check whether a suspicious voice is mine?

Not yet. Comparing a suspicious voice against your registered one is in preparation, and we will not promise a date. What can be compared today is the face; voice registration serves permission checks and consent evidence.

If you have found a cloned voice, save the post address and the audio and report through the platform’s rights infringement window. Write to support@rightis.org if you need help.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Why three sentences?

The script is the consent wording. You state in your own voice that you register it and will manage its use.

Who can listen to the recording?

You, and the operations team briefly when a contract review requires it. Every playback is logged and no file is passed to AI services.

What if I have already found a cloned voice?

Save the address and audio and report through the platform. Voice matching is not offered yet; write to support@rightis.org and we will point you to what helps.

When will voice matching be available?

It is in preparation without a promised date. When it opens it will compare against your registered voice, so registering now is the preparation.
